The Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS), has selected Quality Technology, Inc. (QuTech), an Alliant Small Business Prime Contractor to provide an initial prototype Cloud Computing solution for the NWS' Systems Engineering Center (SEC) located in Silver Spring, MD. The two year contract will provide cloud services utilizing redundant, highly-secure and scalable data centers build purposely to host Federal customers.
In support of the mission of the NWS to provide weather, hydrologic, and climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, QuTech has selected Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (Terremark), a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for Cloud Infrastructure, to provide the Enterprise Cloud infrastructure to the SEC. QuTech will also provide Content Delivery and Net Storage through Akamai Technologies (Akamai), a market-leading, cloud-based service provider of optimized web, mobile content and applications, online HD video, and secure e-commerce.
